Mummy Caged a Pug

Greetings from Germany.  It's me  MA-kytah.
Boy oh boy do I have a post for you.
Mummy got to work on something she had been staring at ever since she brought it home from a thrift shop in Birkenfeld.
She said that it was a candle holder.  Mummy doesn't like to light candles in the apartment because of this guy.
See he likes to throw the ball for Shady and I to fetch.  Can you see Shady in the back?  Yep, and mummy is afraid that we might knock down a candle and burn the place down.  So she decided to do something else with the candle holder.

Here we go.........

Yep............Mummy is so fascinated with Santos Cage Dolls (as in her last post) that - well -
MUMMY CAGED A PUG

She designed it to hold her collection of clay pugs and paper mache pugs that she collects from artists on Etsy.

Man oh Man that Mummy.
Now tell me...........do I look anything like the Pug Cage Doll?

Pieces from Countries

Ever heard of Santos Cage Dolls?
I first saw one when I was reading this blog
See the cage doll on the table?

There are sooooo many Santos Cage Dolls on Pinterest.

I was so inspired by these beautiful dolls that I set out to make one myself.

As I was putting the doll together I realized that the pieces I gathered were from around the world.  Different countries we have visited put this doll together.

From Guam
I found this photo holder at the Salvation Army.
It will now serve as the "cage" of the Santos Cage Doll.

I drew out the pattern for the doll..........freehand.

From Germany
The fabric came from the lining of a basket that I found in a thrift shop in Birkenfeld, Germany.
I love the texture of the fabric

Paintng on this fabric was awesome.  I used acrylic paint.
I purchased the acrylic paint from the Creative Craft Center in Baumholder, Germany.

FROM HONG KONG
I used pearl beads that I picked up in Hong Kong to serve as buttons on the Santos Cage Doll.

From the Philippines
The tassel edging I bought in the Philippines in 2007 when we shopped there for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary.

From Alaska (U.S.A)
In 2004 I visited my sister in Alaska and we went to garage/rummage sales and I picked up vintage buttons.
I needed two buttons to connect the arms to the body.

From Tacoma Washington (U.S.A.)
I picked up the embroidery thread from a Joann's in Tacoma Washington and this is what I used to attach the arms to the body with the buttons from Alaska.

From Korea
Santos Cage Dolls were once used as altars in homes in little towns that had no churches.  I want to use my Santos Cage Doll to display rosaries my husband picked up in Korea.  The rosaries came in these beautiful round trinket boxes.

So now let's take a look at my

70 Loads of Laundry Created Angel Wings

What a title huh?
Well I really did do 70 loads of laundry to get this project done.
Each time a load was washed and dried this lovely Tiffany & Co bag filled up with used dryer sheets.

I saved the sheets because I just knew I could do something with them.

It took quite some time to take 70 dryer sheets and cut em in half.
And then trim the edges and sew and gather one side.  I needed 140 of these gathered dryer sheets in all.

Once I got the dryer sheets ready I moved on to my favorite craft of them all - making rolled flowers out of fleece with a pearl hot glued in the center.

And I made lots of them.

And now on to the pattern.
I used two poster boards.
To cut an angel wing.
And then one by one I glued the gathered dryer sheets to the wings.

WHOOPS!!
Almost forgot the rolled roses.

Once all the material is prepared gluing onto the wings was quick.

My my my
I just love how my Angel Wings turned out.
